In Eindhoven, Opel gives a preview of the future of electric rallying: With spectacular drifts and great applause, the Mokka GSE Rally celebrates its world premiere at the ELE Rally in the Netherlands – and, at times, even steals the show from the Spanish winner Alex Español. The 280 hp electric rally car with 345 Newton meters of torque does not compete for points, but immediately captures the hearts of the fans.
The new powerful electric car from Rüsselsheim is not content with putting on a leisurely display. Volker Strycek, Opel veteran and motorsport legend, courageously pushes the prototype to its limits over the treacherous asphalt stages around Eindhoven. The result: A taste of what could be possible in customer racing from the 2026 rally season. State-of-the-art motorsport technology with power and top performance.
„It doesn’t just look powerful: I’m sure that the Mokka GSE Rally cuts a great figure on the track.“
– Cup participant Kilian Nierenz –

“For more than four years, Opel and the ADAC have been demonstrating that electric rallying works and excites,” says Opel CEO Florian Huettl. “With our new Opel Mokka GSE Rally, we are offering a glimpse of a fully electric next generation rally car. And you can see that. A lightweight tubular space frame, a slimmed-down, finely tuned Bilstein chassis, multi-plate limited-slip differential, racing gearbox and no driving aids – here the driver rules, not the electronics.
Stronger, faster, more uncompromising
The Mokka GSE Rally is trimmed for top performance – and also inspires from the passenger seat: Opel Marketing Director Rebecca Reinermann dares to ride alongside Volker Strycek and then raves about the „electric thrill“. The GSE prototype fits perfectly with the brand’s sporting tradition, she says – and promises fans „real OMG! GSE moments“. The battery? Close to series production, with a capacity of 54 kWh. The software for battery and motor management? Optimised for motorsport.
The cup participants are also enthusiastic. Germany’s Kilian Nierenz, who finished third at the season opener in Sulingen, says: „It looks powerful, the performance data is impressive.“ Even the Corsa Rally Electric with its great balance combines fun with grip and torque. The Mokka GSE Rally is now going one better – with much more punch: „I’m sure it will cut a great figure on the special stages.“ Nierenz is already looking forward to a test drive.
„Opel is a pioneer of electric rallying. We are proud of this role.“
– Jörg Schrott Head of Opel Motorsport –

The newly developed Opel rally prototype sets standards in every respect: It is the world’s first rally car to be developed according to the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations. This is not the only reason why the Paris-based World Automobile Federation and the Opel Motorsport department have been in close contact for a long time. The blueprint for the world’s first electric rally regulations already comes from Rüsselsheim.
Reunion guaranteed
For Jörg Schrott, Head of Motorsport at Opel, the message of the world premiere is clear: „The Mokka GSE Rally left a strong impression in Eindhoven and has attracted a lot of international attention.“ The extensive development programme will be continued in a concentrated manner. Because: „Opel is a pioneer of electric rallying. We are proud of this role,“ emphasises Schrott. A reunion with the new prototype is guaranteed: It will be part of all other rounds of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup as the lead vehicle.
