Hot, Hotter, Mokka GSE

When Lars Ripperger talks about 345 Nm of torque, and at a top speed of 200 km/h he beams. The grin widens: „From 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds“. This makes the Mokka GSE the fastest battery-electric Opel, he emphasises. For the Product Manager, the exciting performance is the result of engineering excellence from Rüsselsheim.

Ripperger joined the company in 2013 with a degree in business administration. Later, he added a master’s degree in marketing and corporate communications while already working. Today, as product manager, he is responsible for the definition, implementation and market launch of the Mokka GSE. The Mokka GSE bears his signature. „The Mokka GSE was born from rallying,“ says the 31-year-old. It is no coincidence that Opel has placed the Mokka GSE Rally prototype next to the production version during the photo shoot. „From rally to road“ was the mission.

“From 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds – the Mokka GSE is the fastest battery-electric production Opel.”

Bringing motorsport to the road: The Mokka GSE benefits from Opel’s extensive experience in electric rallying.
For thrills in everyday life: Driver and front passenger sit on specially developed Alcantara GSE sports seats with integrated headrest.

The production Mokka GSE adopts technology from rally motorsport – Torsen limited-slip differential, chassis with specifically designed axles and double hydraulic shock absorbers, sporty steering and braking system and chassis. The yellow brake calipers signal that the performance needs to be tamed. The result: powerful acceleration from a standstill, dynamic and stable in curves, safe when braking. „The Mokka GSE is a high-performance package,“ emphasises Ripperger.

In general, the Opel Mokka has been a brand locomotive since its introduction, a model that also attracts new customers. As a GSE, the SUV is given an additional role: a carrier of emotion. „This car is for all those who love performance. Competition? Hardly any,“ says Ripperger. The interior? Specially developed sports seats with Alcantara upholstery, Alcantara door inserts, a steering wheel flattened at the top and bottom, digital displays for G-forces and acceleration on the driver information display. Outside? Black bonnet, aerodynamically optimised 20-inch alloy wheels, GSE-specific inserts on the front and aprons – plus the new GSE logo. Opel has sent the Mokka to the gym – and it has come back as a well-trained athlete.

The specially developed steering and the steering wheel, which is flattened at the top and bottom, promise direct feedback.
Performance tamer: Yellow brake calipers and 380mm brake discs sit behind the distinctive GSE rims.
Sharper, faster and more emotional: at the rear and at the front, the compact electric SUV is adorned with rally-inspired accents.
Front and back: A light central seam and yellow quilted yarn give the seats their typical look.
OMG! GSE: High-performance in series production – that’s what the new all-electric GSE models stand for.

What the press says

Some media representatives have already been able to take a first look at the high-performance newcomer:

„Automobile hot drink with a sports badge,“ says Blick.

„Boom! This Opel has more horsepower than a Golf GTI,“ writes Bild.

AutoBild sees „a real fun machine“.

Focus online writes with a wink: „Like a Manta for environmentalists.“

And Edison predicts „highly emotional experiences behind the wheel“.

The Mokka has already been the model with the greatest attraction for new customers. The GSE could reinforce this, says Auto.de.

A 10-inch display and the central touchscreen provide all the information: GSE performance data, G-forces, acceleration values, battery management.
The displays in typical GSE style underline the high-quality, dynamic design – inside and out down to the last detail.

Currently, only photos of the Opel Mokka GSE have been released to the public. The first live performance is imminent. At the IAA Mobility in Munich, the high-performance Opel will celebrate its premiere. Lars Ripperger can hardly wait for the motorsport energy to hit the road: „The Mokka GSE gets your pulse racing – pure driving pleasure,“ he says.

With a peak output of 207 kW (280 hp), the production electric car will be just as powerful as its motorsport counterpart, the Mokka GSE Rally.
„Rally to road“: For product manager Lars Ripperger, the Mokka GSE is a real project of the heart.
