Four stages, over 100 bands – and Opel presents its own headline at Rock am Ring in the Opel Frontera.

Thunderstruck:
Frontera Stars at Festival

Rock am Ring is a myth. And the myth lives on. Tens of thousands of rock fans flock to the Nürburgring at Pentecost: 40 years of Rock am Ring – what a celebration! Even the weather gods are in a party mood and serve up a few rays of sunshine, at least at the start of the festival. In the middle of it all: Opel. As the exclusive automotive partner of Rock am Ring, the brand with the Blitz participates with its own headliner: the Opel Frontera. It’s not just rock fans who transform the meadows around the Nürburgring into a tent city – in keeping with the festival feeling, the Opel SUV also sports a roof tent.

Welcome to the Opel Lounge, where many rock fans explore the Frontera, take selfies, chill in deck chairs and recharge the batteries of their phones. The excellent atmosphere also convinces Patrick Dinger, Head of Opel Germany. „Opel at Rock am Ring – it’s an extraordinary experience.“ While the headliners on the stages inspire the crowd, the Frontera and the Opel Lounge electrify the car enthusiasts. „Our rugged SUV is like the music on these three days: pure, direct, bold – the festival is the ideal environment for our newcomer, which recently celebrated its dealership debut,“ adds Patrick Dinger.

Tens of thousands celebrate their stars: The Opel Blitz is also present around the stages.
It’s not just the guitar that is preferably electric: a visitor finds out more about the family-friendly SUV.
The roof tent? An upscale accommodation alternative that enriches every festival trip.

In addition to the Frontera, the roof tent in particular is admired. „It’s cool that Opel also has something like this on offer,“ says Sven from Cologne, who, like around 95 percent of all visitors, camps on the festival grounds. With its durable, weather-resistant outer skin, the Opel accessory can also cope with adverse weather conditions. Because: On the second day of the festival, another act takes on the leading role: the rain. Umbrellas, jackets and wellies as far as the eye can see. Sven doesn’t mind. It’s just part of the experience. Like many others, the Cologne native praises the good organisation on site. Marc from the Rock am Ring organisation team is happy about that. „There is a hell of a lot of work and heart and soul in this festival,“ he says.

A good 10,000 people work behind and in front of the scenes to make Rock am Ring an unforgettable party. For Tim it was particularly unforgettable: He hit the jackpot in the Opel competition. Two tickets, camping, front row – and his first Rock am Ring ever. Together with buddy André, he is chilling out in the deck chairs in the Opel lounge and tells us that he founded a rock band in his teens. Music has accompanied him since his youth – until today.

The rock spectacle in the Eifel has been the icon of German festival culture for four decades.
Steeped in tradition: The racetrack in the Eifel and the Opel brand have a long history.

„Opel and Rock am Ring are a perfect match – both are rich in tradition and have been inspiring people for generations.“

Opel Germany Marketing Director Cristiano Colaiacomo

International and national bands such as Korn, Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, The Prodigy, Kontra K, Rise Against, the Beatsteaks and Biffy Clyro are the headliners on the big stages. But the festival isn’t just about loud music. Rock am Ring also creates encounters that will be remembered. „We wanted to be close – to the community, to the feedback,“ says Opel Germany Marketing Director Cristiano Colaiacomo. „And we succeeded: at the heart of the festival. Direct. Approachable.“

The Rüsselsheim team on site: Opel representatives such as Head of Opel Germany Patrick Dinger (back, 3rd from left) and Cristiano Colaiacomo, Marketing Director Germany, (kneeling, centre) were also delighted with how well Opel’s commitment is received by the festival goers.
