Driving fun? Award-winning!

The new Opel Corsa GSE has barely celebrated its motor show debut in Paris and it has already picked up its first major accolade: At the Carwow Car of the Year Awards 2027, the all-electric hot hatch has been named ‘fun-to-drive car’ of the year.

The ingredients for success? 281 hp, 345 Nm of torque and a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. That makes the Corsa GSE the fastest-accelerating Opel currently in production. Add a lowered sports chassis, a mechanical front-axle limited-slip differential and powerful 355-millimetre brakes. And the compact powerhouse looks the part, too: with sporty 18-inch wheels, a distinctive GSE front end, rear spoiler and performance seats.

“An impressive 281 hp, large 355-millimetre brakes and supportive sports seats – the Opel Corsa GSE has all the ingredients for a fun-to-drive car,” is the verdict of the Carwow Germany jury. Its mechanical limited-slip differential, which cleverly distributes drive power between the front wheels, makes cornering even more fun.

Patrick Dinger, Head of Opel Germany, is equally delighted with the award: “The new Opel Corsa GSE carries Opel’s tradition of exciting hot hatches into the future and shows just how much fun an all-electric car can be.”

The Carwow jury’s verdict: Fun-to-drive car of the year. And all without a drop of petrol.
The Carwow Car of the Year Awards were held for the fifth time this year.
